Decomposed Granite & Ground Cover

Decomposed granite is crushed rock screened fine enough to compact into a firm surface. Laid over a prepared base it drains rain instead of pooling it, which is what separates a path that lasts from one that washes out the first winter.

The work is in the base and the edge. Without a compacted sub-base the surface ruts under foot traffic, and without a defined edge the material migrates into the lawn and the beds. We set both before any DG goes down, and compact in lifts rather than all at once.
