Block & Retaining Walls

A retaining wall restrains soil at two different levels — it holds back ground that would otherwise slide, slump or wash out. On a sloped lot it is also what turns dead grade into terrace you can actually stand on.

These walls carry real load, so the work that does not show is the work that matters: footing, drainage behind the wall, and block set to hold for decades rather than for the first wet winter.
